LA GRANDE, Ore. - The 22nd ranked Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers beat the Knights of Warner Pacific in three sets (25-23, 25-18, 25-22). This is the third consecutive wins for the Mounties (7-4, 3-1 CCC).
Tonight the freshman shined. Emily Sampson had a spectacular 20 assists, and teammate Jessica Lea added 15 assists and 8 kills. Melanie Ceciliani, also a freshman, had a team high of 11 kills. Head Coach Kaki McLean celebrated on Ceciliani performance, "She played very well for us tonight." Grace Deboodt, Sareena Simpson and Natassia Quintrell gave the Mounties defensive with 12, 10, and 9, digs respectively. Coach McLean stated, "Tonight our hitting was effective, but we still need to work on our consistency and transition on the floor."
The Mounties have a tough match-up on Tuesday, September 16th at 7:00 p.m. against The College of Idaho.
