Concordia Sweeps Northwest Christian Invitational

BLUE RIVER, Ore. – The Concordia’s men’s and women’s golf teams took their first steps towards repeating as Cascade Collegiate Conference champions, winning their respective tournaments at the Northwest Christian University Invitational.
The Cavalier men won the tournament over second-place Northwest Christian University by 37 strokes, scoring a 30-over par 894. The Beacons held off Corban by one stroke for second, 931-932. The College of Idaho claimed fourth place with a score of 968. Warner Pacific, in their first CCC tournament, was just seven strokes back in fifth place (975).
Individually, Concordia’s Marc Arima posted scores of 6-under 66, 5-under 67 and even-par 72, claiming a 20-stroke lead as he grabbed medalist honors. Arima’s opening round total was three strokes off the course record, while his 36-hole total was two strokes shy of the Cascade Collegiate Conference record that was set last season by Tyler Austin.
Taking second place was Northwest Christian University's Brent McKee, who shot a 73 in Tuesday's third round to finish with a three-round total of 9-over par 225. One stroke back in third place was Corban's Joey Duwe (75-75-76=226). Rounding out the top five were Concordia's Cory Larro (12-over 228), Northwest Christian’s Justin Ahrens (14-over 230), and Concordia's A.J. Lightheart (14-over 230).
The Cavalier women won the team title by a distanced 40-strokes, finishing with a 140-over par 1004. The only other scoring team, The College of Idaho, finished with a 180-over 1044.
Individually, Concordia’s Lindsay Aho grabbed medalist honors, finished with a 15-over par 231. She held a one stroke lead heading into the final round. Aho’s performance was five strokes better than Northwest Christian’s Ashley King, who posted a 76-76-84=236 and held a one-stroke lead after the first round.
Concordia’s Kim Tilton (34-over 250), The College of Idaho’s Heidi Murphy (40-over 256), and Concordia’s Sara Taylor (40-over 256) rounded out the top five.
The next regular season conference tournament for both the men and women is scheduled for October 6-7 at the College of Idaho Invitational, taking place at River Bend Golf Course in Caldwell, Idaho.
