Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Oregon Tech men’s soccer team had their hopes of winning the conference opener shattered today when a 2-1 Tech lead disappeared with back-to-back Thunderbird goals, as Cascade found a way to win in the final minutes 3-2. The Owls losing streak is now five in a row and currently sit at 1-5-1 overall and start the league season at 0-1. Cascade College evens their record to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in conference action.

Cascade took an early lead when Wandi Ali scored the games first goal with just 1:30 ticking off the clock to put the T-birds up 1-0. Oregon Tech was able to answer at the 10 minute mark when Dylan Durrell (So. Sherwood, OR) scored from 10 yards out on a cross from Jimmie Hernandez (Fr. Tulelake, CA) to knot the score at 1-1 and go into intermission tied.

At the 54 minute mark in the second half, Dylan Durrell and Jimmie Hernandez would trade roles, as Durrell sent a 40 yard cross to Hernandez who buried a 12 yard shot to give Tech their first lead of the game at 2-1.

At the 64:40 mark, Cascade was able to penetrate the Owl defense when Wandi Ali scored his second goal of the game, this time unassisted, to tie it at 2-2. Then, within two minutes Cascade capitalized on a direct kick, after a Tech yellow card, which Fernando Montiel was able to place into to the lower left corner to go up 3-2. The Cascade defense then held, as Tech was unable to score, ending the contest by the same 3-2 score.

The Owls will look to even up their league record when they face South Division favorite, College of Idaho, tomorrow at Trevor Derrah Field at the Steen Sport Park at 1:00 pm.
