Tech's Krista Wooley finished with a match high 19 kills on 27 attempts to help lead the No. 17 ranked Owls over Corban College tonight in Klamath Falls.
Hustlin Owls Thump Warriors
Klamath Falls, Ore. – The No. 17 ranked Hustlin’ Owls made quick work of Corban College tonight at Danny Miles Court winning in three straight sets (25-14, 27-25, 25-11) and took sole possession of the league lead at 5-0. Corban College dropped to 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the CCC.
The Owls saw themselves down one at 9-10 in set one, but a 4-0 run would give Tech a 13-10 advantage and force CC to take a time out. OIT would then methodically push the lead to five, seven and then 10 during a 12-4 run to finish out set one, winning 25-14.
In set two Corban again found themselves down early, this time at 13-7, but would claw their way back to eventually tie the game and then take their first lead at 19-18. Both teams then traded points with CC serving at set point 24-23. Tech then went to Krista Wooley (Sr. Reedsport, OR), who tied it at 24-24 and then would take a 25-24 lead. CC was able to tie it at 25-25, but the Owls would put down the final two balls to win set two 27-25.
Set three was all Tech, jumping to their first double-digit lead at 13-3 and then doubling the score at 22-11 on their way to scoring the final three points of the match to win 25-11 and securing the conference’s top spot at 5-0.
The Owls Krista Wooley was unstoppable tonight, hitting at a 59% clip to total 19 kills in 27 attempts and added six digs. Nicole Andrews (Sr. Chehalis, WA) followed with a 58% kill percentage with 10 kills on 17 attempts, while Megan Christensen (So. Klamath Falls, OR) also finished the night with 10 kills. Sarah Svedin (Fr. Palmer, AK) led Tech with 11 digs while setter Lizzie Law (Sr. Kennewick, WA) added 41 assists to her season total.
Corban’s Chelsea Reeher (Sr. Powell Butte, OR) led the Warriors with nine kills, while Rebecca Franke (So. Pendleton, OR) finished with a match high 14 digs.
Oregon Tech (10-2, 5-0) will face Concordia University (8-5, 4-1) tomorrow before a showdown with arch-rival Southern Oregon (6-7, 4-1) on Tuesday, September 23rd. Both matches are at Danny Miles Court and are scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
