Eagles Shoot Down Owls
Klamath Falls, Ore. – The D&S Harley Davidson Soccer Tournament concluded play with Biola University defeating host Oregon Tech 2-1 in women’s action today at Trevor Derrah Field.
Natalie Wolf (Jr. Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) began the Biola scoring with a goal at the 16th minute off a deflection to put the Eagles on top 1-0. Both teams would play keep away for the remainder of the half with Biola hanging on to the slim 1-0 margin over the host team.
Oregon Tech would finally find the back of the net at the 60th minute when all-conference forward Katie O'Brien (Jr. Jacksonville, OR) scored on a header from a pass from Marcie Toro (So. Klamath Falls, OR) to tie the game at 1-1.
However, the lead did not last long when BU’s Caitlin Peterson (So. San Diego, Calif.) would score unassisted from 25 yards out to get the Eagles back on top 2-1 at the 67th minute of play.
The Oregon Tech offense could not get past a strong Biola defense for the remaining 23 minutes, as the Eagles topped the Owls by the same 2-1 score.
Menlo College of Atherton, Calif. won the Cup with a perfect 2-0 record with Biola University finishing runner-up with a 1-1 mark and the Owls ended up 0-2 to place third.
The next soccer action for both the men and women will be on the road at Humboldt State University on Friday September 5th with the men set to start at 6:00 pm and the women at 8:00 pm.
