EAGLE, Idaho - Battling the rain and a muddy course, The College of Idaho men's cross country team finished third and the women's team finished fifth at the Bob Firman Invitational at Eagle Island State Park.

After waiting out a 90-minute lightning delay to start the morning, the Coyote men had a phenominal run - as freshman Zeke Wilson placed seventh and sophomore Paul Sartin placed tenth overall.  The Yotes, who did not race a pair of their mainstays - Geoff Williams and Sam Hardy, finished behind champion Boise State and runner-up Lewis-Clark State.  They did, however, upend Idaho State, Eastern Oregon, Northwest Nazarene and Dixie State.

On the women's side, Stephanie Helm continued to prove why she is one of the top runners in the Northwest, placing third - behind the No. 1 and No. 2 harriers from Brigham Young, ranked No. 25 in the NCAA Division I poll.  Unfortunately, the Lady Yotes did not execute their race plan - finishing behind BYU, Boise State, Idaho State, and Lewis-Clark State, but ahead of Eastern Oregon and Northwest Nazarene.

Full results from the meet have not been released as of 10 p.m. - but will be posted as soon as they are received.

The Coyotes will take next week off in preparation for the Willamette Invitational on October 4.
