COLLEGE PARK, Wash. – Sophomore Travis Wells (Springfield, Ore.) scored his first goal of the season in the 18th minute via an assist from senior Fernando Karczeski (Curitiba, Brazil), as Corban's men's soccer team defeated Walla Walla, 1-0, Wednesday evening at the all-new WWU Field.

Taking a one-game break from Cascade Collegiate Conference play, Corban traveled north to the state of Washington to take on Pacific Northwest College Conference member Walla Walla for the sixth time ever.

Once the final whistle was blown, Corban had extended its unbeaten streak against the Wolves to six games that includes an 8-0 margin over the past two games.

After a scoreless opening 18-plus minutes, Wells took a cross pass from Karczeski and deposited the ball into the back of the net for the game's lone goal. The 5-foot-11 forward notched the third goal and second game-winning tally of his career.

A strong defensive front kept the host Wolves off the scoreboard throughout the game, as junior goalkeeper Aaron Franklin (Red Bluff, Calif.) registered a game-high tying seven saves en route to picking up his fourth shutout of the season.

On his current pace, Franklin could end the season with a school-record eight shutouts giving him 12 "goose eggs" during his three-year career between the pipes for the Warriors.

Walla Walla registered 16 total shots compared to Corban's 21, as the Wolves' net-minders Brandon Williams and Kendrick Minsinck split times between the pipes. Williams started the game and registered a game-high tying seven saves despite allowing the game-winning goal over the first 79 minutes, before giving way to Minsinck who stood in goal for the final 11 minutes and registered a pair of saves.

With the win, Corban improves to 3-5-1 on the season, while Walla Walla falls to 1-8-0 on the season. The Warriors while return to the field on Saturday, September 27th, when they host the Thunderbirds of Cascade beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Warrior Field.
