Eastern Defeats Northwest U. in Four
KIRKLAND, Wash.- Visiting Eastern Oregon defeated Northwest U. in four sets tonight, 3-1, (25-16, 25-22, 22-25, 25-16) for their fifth conference win of the season and put themselves into a three-way tie for third place in the CCC with the College of Idaho and Concordia with identical 5-2 records.
Grace Deboot had a game high 18 kills and 14 defensive digs for the Mountaineers (9-5, 5-2 CCC). Teammate Jessica Lea also had a double-double with a game high 29 assists and 10 digs while Sareena Simpson added 16 digs for EOU.
Northwest U. (5-9, 2-5 CCC) was led by sophomore Lauren Holtz (Brier, Wash.) with 14 kills and 8 digs and another sophomore, Tarah Petrick (Monroe, Wash.) added 11 assists and 12 digs on the night for NU. Frosh Anu Akamine (Hauula, Hawaii) contributed 12 digs and teammate Libby Hellwig (Junior, Exeter, Calif.) added 12 assists for the Eagles.
Northwest hosts the College of Idaho tomorrow night in Kirkland while EOU travels south to play the Evergreen State College in Olympia. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
