KIRKLAND, Wash.- After a tough 76 minutes of defensive play, the Eagles' Brittney Marshall (Jr., Monroe, Wash.) knocked through a goal for the game winner tonight as NU shut out Eastern Oregon, 1-0, at Lake Washington Stadium.

Marshall's goal off an assist from teammate and midfielder Chelsea Miller (Soph., Snoqualmie, Wash.) ended the scoreless deadlock at the 76:19 mark in the second half. NU's tough defense limited EOU to only one shot for the entire game while the Eagles managed 11. Northwest U. had seven shots in the first half and some near misses that couldn't find the back of the net. Freshman Jordan Holmes (Mountlake Terrace, Wash.) earned the shut out in goal for the Eagles who are tied for the conference lead with a 2-0 record.

"It was a hard fought battle," commented head coach Erin Redwine following the game. "We struggled with finishing our chances and finding our usual rhythm. Chelsea Miller and Brit Marshall stepped up with a big assist and goal to get the win for us tonight," concluded coach Redwine.

The Eagles continue play on Saturday afternoon with a 2 p.m. contest against the College of Idaho at Lake Washington Stadium.
