C of I Hands NU First CCC Loss
KIRKLAND, Wash. - The College of Idaho remained undefeated in Cascade Conference play as they defeated the NU Eagles, 3-1, and hand NU its first conference loss.
C of I (6-3, 2-0 CCC) scored only 32 seconds into the game as Kelly Hardegree-Ullman (Fresh., Boise, Idaho) was fouled in the penalty box by Northwest's Shauna Marshall. Hardegree-Ullman's penalty kick found the goal and gave the Coyotes a 1-0 lead. Chelsea Heffner (Fresh., Meridian, Idaho) scored at the 20:04 mark from an assist by Macy Egerman (Fresh., Boise, Idaho).
Northwest U's (3-2-2, 2-1 CCC) Rachael Harris (Soph., Auburn, Wash.) scored the Eagles lone goal of the day off an assist by Shauna Marshall (Senior, Bothell, Wash.) in the first half as College of Idaho took a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Macy Egerman scored C of I's final goal in the second half (58:28) on an unassisted score. College of Idaho out shot NU, 12 to 7 as Northwest's Jessica Kane (Fresh., Issaquah, Wash.) had 3 saves on the day and C of I's goalkeeper, Sadie Hughes (Jr., Courtenay, B.C.) saved 2 for the Coyotes.
The Eagles will now play four consecutive road games beginning with Concordia in Portland, Oregon on October 3.
