Overtime Goal Gives Owls First Ever CCC Win
Klamath Falls, Ore – In a hard fought battle Oregon Tech’s Leo Keiser (Medford, OR) scored 6 minutes into the first overtime to send the large crowd home happy as Tech wins 1-0 over the Beacons of Northwest Christian. The win was the first ever Cascade Collegiate Conference victory for the new program. With the win the Owls improve to 1-2 in the CCC and 2-6-1 on the inaugural season. The loss drops Northwest Christian to 0-4 in the CCC and 1-6-1 overall.
The game was a battle from start to finish a total of 19 fouls were called with 6 different players receiving yellow cards and one player, Greg Erickson (Eugene, OR) of Northwest Christian was sent off the field with a Red Card in the 95th minute. Just 30 seconds later Oregon Tech scored the winning goal when Leo Keiser dribbled in the left side of the Beacon box got past two defenders and placed a laser of a shot into the right-back of the goal for game winner it was his third goal of the year.
Oregon Tech goalie Travis Bille (Grants Pass, OR) was credited with 4 saves for the game with Northwest Christian goalies being credited with a total of 5 saves. The teams had the same amount of shots in the game with 18 each and both had 5 corner kicks.
The Hustlin’ Owls will be back in action on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 when they host Corban College (2-2 CCC, 4-5-1) at Steen Sports Park at 7:00pm. Northwest Christian will next play October 3, 2008 at College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho.
