BEAVERTON, Ore.— With shots at a premium, Westmont made the most of is opportunities with a 1-0 win over No. 24 Concordia at the Far West Challenge held at the Nike World Campus on Saturday.

With the result, Concordia falls to 2-3-1 on the year while Westmont jumped to 2-2-0.

Anthony Niboli provided the game’s only scoring sequence after unleashing a 25-yard shot from the left side that safely found the upper right corner of the net. The goal would be all the Warriors would need as the California team held Concordia to just six total shots.

Justin Etherton stopped three of those attempts to secure the shutout while playing the full 90 minutes in goal for the Warriors. Garrett Staples took the loss after giving up the single score and recording three saves.

With a dozen shots, Westmont finished the contest with twice as many shots as the Cavaliers and held a 13-to-3 advantage in corner kick chances.

The Cavaliers will conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule when they host Cal State-East Bay on Sept. 11. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Tualatin Hills Park and Rec.
