Corban's Franklin Registers Game-High 10 Saves in Loss to Jacks

ARCATA, Calif. – Junior goalkeeper Aaron Franklin (Red Bluff, Calif.) recorded a game-high 10 saves against a season-high 27 shots, as Corban's men's soccer team fell to the Lumberjacks of Humboldt State, 3-0, Saturday afternoon inside the Redwood Bowl.
In the shadows of the California redwood trees, Corban fell victim to a HSU goal in the 8th minute by Daniel Adamski off an assist by Matt Colwell. The eventual game-winning goal came via a loose ball in the six-yard box, as Adamski was able to poke it past a diving Franklin.
Just over twenty minutes later, Humboldt State tacked on another goal as Colwell got into the scoring act off an assist by Josh Suggs. Suggs began the scoring action with a cross onto the awaiting foot of Colwell, who tallied his third point of the game.
Colwell capped the game's scoring with his second goal of the game in the 83rd minute, as he cracked a shot off a loose ball that found the back of the net.
Despite only registering one shot over the opening 45 minutes, Corban unleashed three shots in the second half off the feet of junior Kaleb Herring (Waco,Texas), sophomore Travis Wells (Springfield, Ore.), and junior Jared Rust (Palo Cedro, Calif.). Freshman Nolan Dempster (Hillsboro, Ore.) tallied the Warriors' lone shot in the opening half.
Franklin played all 90 minutes in between the pipes for Corban en route to registering his game-high save total. Meanwhile, Humboldt State's Drew Ryan faced a mere four shots (none on goal) to collect the shutout victory.
With today’s loss, the Warriors fall to 1-3 in early season play while Humboldt State improves to 2-0-1. The Warriors return to action on Tuesday, September 9th, when they host the University of La Verne at 2:30 p.m. on Warrior Field.
