CALDWELL, Idaho -- The Mountaineer soccer team played a defensive game today against the Bears of Rocky Mountain, losing 1-0 in the non-conference match. The first half was a battle of defense, with many saves by goalkeeper, Kalah Minter, leading into halftime with both team's scoreless.
The second half the game turned very physical, with two yellow cards given out against the Bears, and one red card against the Mounties. Mid-way through the second half the Bears were able to connect with a high kick from 18 feet out, with the only score of the game. The Mountaineers passing game could not tie together enough passes to find the net. Rocky Mountain is a good opponent to play to prepare EOU for conference play.
Head coach Jessy Watson credit goalkeeper Kalah Minter on being player of the game. The Mountaineers will play at home on September 10th at noon against George Fox University.
