Ohta Continues to Add to Corban's Recruiting Class for 2009-10 Season
SALEM, Ore. – Second-year head coach Nathan Ohta announced his fourth signing for the 2009-10 season, as current Kentwood High School senior Liane DeHart (Kent, Wash.) signed a Letter of Intent earlier this week to play for Corban's softball team following the conclusion of her prep career.
"Liane is a great addition to our team," commented Ohta. "She will greatly complement our core of returning players (in 2009-10) and recent signees. Defensively, she is a very versatile player that has the ability to play in both the infield and outfield. Offensively, she adds tremendous speed to our lineup. We are blessed to have a player of Liane's caliber joining our program next season."
DeHart, a 5-foot-5 middle infielder and outfielder, has been voted the Most Inspirational Player each of the past two seasons for the Conquerors. A member of Kentwood's varsity team since her freshman season, DeHart was named team captain prior to both her junior and senior seasons.
According to a recruiting web site, DeHart has been clock from home to first in 2.56 seconds as well as being able to run from home-to-home in 11.65 seconds.
DeHart joins fellow Class of 2013 members Nicole Sikes, Tamara Feb, and Stephanie Nippert, who all signed Letters of Intent over the past eight months.
Corban's softball team is scheduled to open its 2009 season on Friday & Saturday, February 6th & 7th, in a pair of double headers against Simpson University in Redding, California.
