5 CCC Hoop Teams Ranked in This Week's NAIA Top 25 Polls
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Defending national champion Oregon Tech is ranked No. 1 in the men’s NAIA Top 25 poll for the fifth consecutive poll, the national office announced Monday. OIT, which has topped the poll since the preseason rating was released in late October, is 17-1 overall and leading the Cascade Collegiate Conference with a 7-1 league mark.
The Owls make their first trip of the season to Portland this weekend when they play at Cascade College on Friday and against No. 18-ranked Warner Pacific College on Saturday. Both games tip off at 7:30 p.m.
Two other CCC teams are ranked in this week’s poll – No. 13 Evergreen, which jumped two spots, and No. 18 Warner Pacific, which fell from the No. 10 position. College of Idaho, which beat a pair of nationally-ranked teams last week, received votes but did not crack the Top 25.
In the NAIA women’s Top 25, College of Idaho, riding a 16-game winning streak, climbed from 15th to the 11th position, while Concordia, which moved into the Top 25 last week for the first time in school history, jumped from 20th to the No. 17 position. Concordia has won 15 in a row after losing its season opener. One team’s streak will come to an end on Friday night, as the Cavaliers travel to Caldwell, Idaho to take on the Yotes in a 5:30 p.m. matchup.
