SEATTLE, Wash. – Concordia, Northwest and Evergreen will all have representation when one of the region’s first major indoor collegiate track and field meets takes place at the University of Washington Indoor Open here Saturday.

Concordia, which qualified four for the NAIA Indoor Championships at a meet here in December, is expected to compete approximately 25 student-athletes at Saturday’s competition, which will take place at the Dempsey Indoor Center on the UW campus. Northwest is expected to enter nine athletes.

Among those hoping to reach national indoor qualifying marks for the Cavaliers include Linsie Michels and Andria Scheese in the mile; Alice Taylor, Lauren Moran and Samantha Robert in the 3,000 meters; Katherine Tripp, Kristine Leonard, Leon Carl and Eric Whalen in the shot put; Chris Wilson in the 60 meter hurdles; Jordan Hamblen and Curtis Parrish in the 400 meters; Erika Schmid in the high jump; Lakeesha Cadogan in the long jump; and Stephen Marshall in the triple jump.

“Each week we will add to the number of indoor competitors as we feel they are ready to go,” said CU head coach Randy Dalzell. “We are going to good meets in the middle and later portions of the indoor season, so there is no rush to compete at this point, but we still want to go ahead and get qualifying marks out of the way for some of these athletes if the opportunity is there and they are ready.”

Two of the athletes from Northwest who are looking to qualify include Seth Bridges in the 3,000 meters and Jimmy Reed in the 400 meters.

Evergreen will enter four student-athletes, including Lindsey Farah (800 meters, 600 meters), Ryan Lara (400 meters, 300 meters) and Jason Shoemaker (300 meters). Geoduck head coach /Craig Dickson is hopeful Farah can meet the 1:38.35 NAIA 'A' qualifying standard in the 600.
