ASHLAND, ORE - It’s getting down to winning time for the Southern Oregon women’s basketball team.

Southern Oregon (12-4 overall, 4-3 Cascade Conference) heads north to face Warner Pacific College on Friday, and Cascade College Saturday. Following that SOU travels to Northwest Christian where it will face Evergreen State Monday in a makeup game.

All three games will be key for the Raiders who are 2-2 over their last four Cascade Conference games.

“This is the best our conference has been in at least eight to 10 years,” SOU head coach Lynn Kennedy said. “We need to get back to the preseason high we were on. We need to win the games that we should when we’re on the road.”

Warner Pacific is 8-9 overall and 4-4 in conference play, but they are undefeated at home so far during league play.

“They got a new coach and they have really improved this year,” said Kennedy. “They’re playing really hard, but we match up with them size wise which is an advantage for us.”

Cascade College is 8-5 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

SOU heads into this doubleheader fresh off a victory over Northwest Christian last weekend. The Raiders struggled with turnovers and poor shooting, but managed to pull out the win.

“Northwest beat OIT the night before we played by eight points, so we knew they were ready for us,” said Kennedy.

Emily Brookins and Kellyn Cooper gave SOU some good minutes off the bench and Kennedy is hoping for big performances from them again this weekend.

“We’re prepared and excited, but winning will have to be a team effort,” said Kennedy.
