LA GRANDE, Ore- Tonight's game against the Warriors of Corban College was a close rally throughout the entire game. EOU's Kyle Miller sparked the Mounties offense at the beginning of the half, by knocking down a couple of big three's. Miller led the Mountaineers with 13 points the first half. The Mounties kept the lead going into intermission 38-32.
The second half consisted of both teams getting up and down the court quickly. The game came down to valuable possessions and knocking down free-throws. Salena Leavitt shot 12 for 12 from the line and with a game-high 24 points and 8 assists. Also in double figures for the Mountaineers was, Brianna Smith with 10, Ashlee Michelson with 12, and Kyle Miller with a strong 14 points. Freshman Smith and Miller pulled own a game-high 7 boards apiece.
EOU shot 22-27 (87%) on the game, while holding Corban to only 8 for 11 from the line. Eastern executed down the stretch to defeat the Warriors 74-67.
Leavitt noted on tonights win, "It was a great team win. Everyone stepped up at different times and we did a great job at answering back to their runs. We never lost our composure."
Tomorrow, Eastern (11-4, 6-2 CCC) will face No.17 ranked Concordia University (15-2, 8-1 CCC) in Quinn Coliseum at 5:30p.m. Come out and support your Lady Mountaineers!
