Nicole Gall hit seven treys in Lady Yotes win
Lady Yotes Sprint Past Cascade, 81-48
CALDWELL, Idaho - Riding a wave of ten first-half three-point baskets, The College of Idaho women's basketball team shook off a lack-luster first six minutes to sprint past Cascade College, 81-48, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
For the No. 9 ranked Lady Yotes (19-1, 10-0 CCC), it was their 19th-straight win, equaling the longest win streak by a current Cascade Conference member, while picking up their 14th-straight win at home.
Early on, the visiting T-Birds (8-9, 1-9) hung close, taking a 16-9 lead on a Kristina Schumacher lay-up with 13:57 left in the period. However, the hosts would outscore Cascade 59-10 over the next 24 minutes to blow open the game.
Nicole Gall would hit three consecutive triples, part of a 16-0 run over the final seven minutes of the first half to build a 40-22 halftime lead. Cascade would pull within 45-26 with 17-minutes left, but the Yotes would rattle off 23-straight points, capped by a Katee Brewer breakaway lay-up to take a 68-26 lead, with the Purple and Gold coasting to the win.
Gall led all scorers with 23 points, including seven three-pointers, with Owen and Meghan Hughes each scoring 14. Schumacher led Cascade with 14 points, with Robin Swain adding 13 in the losing effort.
The two teams will hook up again in 72 hours, as the Lady Yotes head to Portland for a rematch Friday night. The game will be broadcast live on 1490 KCID-AM, beginning with the Jackson's Pre Game Show at 6:15 p.m. (MST)
