SALEM, Ore. – Senior Kailey Bostwick (Medford, Ore.) scored a team-high 13 points on 5-for-12 shooting from the field, but it was not enough as Corban's women's basketball team fell to the NAIA's No. 17-ranked Cavaliers of Concordia, 84-55, Tuesday evening inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

The visiting Cavaliers scored 50 points in the first period and held the host Warriors to just 19 points in the second en route to securing their 17th victory of the season. Concordia improves to 17-2 overall with a 10-1 mark in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, while Corban dropped to 8-11 overall and 4-7 in the CCC.

The Cavaliers opened the contest by grabbing a double-digit lead (15-4) in the first five minutes of play highlighted by a Danielle Clauson steal and consequent layup on the other end with 15:37 remaining. Behind 13 points and four assists in the first half by Bostwick, the Warriors fought back to within a single point (22-21) less than five minutes later. Bostwick would assist freshman Katie Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) and follow with a three-point jumper on the next possession to bring the Warriors within striking distance. Unfortunately, the Cavalier offense continued to click the rest of the half thanks to a 23-7 run to end the half up by 17 points (45-28).

Concordia kept rolling in the second half, as the visiting Cavaliers starting the period with a 17-1 run to take a commanding 67-37 lead with 13:36 to play following a Sarah Eischen jumper in the paint. The host Warriors would attempt to get back into the game, but Concordia's defense and timely offense held Corban at bay en route to securing the 29-point victory (84-55).

Besides Bostwick's team-high point total, Steigleman was the only other Warrior in double figures with 12 points on 6-for-14 shooting from the field. Sophomore Jennesa Miller (Mica, Wash.) came off the bench to add eight points, while senior Ashley Connell (Spokane, Wash.) paced the Warriors with a game and team-best five rebounds and seven assists.

Concordia's Rachel Scarpelli tallied 14 points to led all players that included four Cavalier players in double figures. Angela Gimeno added an even dozen points, while Clauson and Maryam Razavi each had 11 points. Rebecca Gimeno recorded a season-high nine assists in the win to go along with four Cavaliers that each pulled down a game-high tying five rebounds.

As a team, Corban shot 24-for-62 (38.7%) after blistering the nets in the opening twenty minutes thanks to a 59.3% (16-for-27) performance. On the other hand, Concordia was 34-for-67 (50.7%) from the field that included a 56.8% (21-for-37) showing in the first half.

The Warriors will return to the hardwood on Friday, January 23rd, when they host the visiting Beacons of Northwest Christian beginning at 5:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
