The Raiders upset 10th-ranked Evergreen State Monday and now return to McNeal Pavilion.
ASHLAND, Ore. -- Four days after upsetting 10th-ranked Evergreen State, the Southern Oregon men’s basketball team will look to continue their momentum into Friday night’s matchup against the Northwest Eagles at 7:30 p.m. at McNeal Pavilion.
In the win over Evergreen, junior Humphrey Jackson led the team with 19 points while Eli Thornton added 17 of his own.
The Northwest Eagles (10-9 overall, 4-6 Cascade Conference) are coming off a close loss to Northwest Christian and currently are tied with the Raiders (6-13, 4-6) for eighth place in the conference.
“Northwest has a very potent offense,” SOU head coach Brian McDermott said. “They run a classic inside-outside spread that makes them hard to guard and they have a good post game.”
Before the win over Evergreen, the Raiders had lost four straight games on the road to Oregon Tech, Northwest Christian, Warner Pacific and Cascade College.
Following Friday’s game, the Raiders will have a rematch with Evergreen Saturday at McNeal Pavilion. After that they hit the road again for two games next week.
The Raiders currently have two players scoring in double digits. Junior Jarrad Childs is averaging 13.6 points per game and senior Eli Thornton averages 11.6.
Childs also currently leads the team with 55 steals which puts him among the best in the league in that category.
Friday will be the last matchup between the two schools this year.
The Raiders are currently 3-1 at home this season against conference opponents.
