ASHLAND, ORE. - Southern Oregon women’s basketball junior Jacki Speers’ big weekend has resulted in a pair of milestones.

Speer eclipsed the 1,000 point barrier for her career during Friday night’s victory over Northwest and moved into fourth place on SOU’s career rebound list during Saturday’s victory over Evergreen State.

Speer now has 1,019 points in her three years as a Raider. The next stop for Speer will be when she cracks the career Top 10 list. Melissa Core currently ranks 10th with 1,073 points.

Speer has 780 career rebounds and passed Lorin Nelson (767 in 1976-80) for fourth place Friday night. Speer should be able to pass Denise Berry’s career total of 834 later this year for third place. The school rebounding record is 1,075, set by Julie Finch from 1988-92.

Speer is also averaging a double-double for the first time in her career. Speer had 14 points and 11 rebounds against Northwest and 17 points and 12 rebounds against Northwest to move up to averaging double-digits in rebounds.

For the season, Speer is averaging 15.6 points and 10.0 rebounds. The rebounding total ranks first in the Cascade Conference and 14th in the Nation.

Speer has also record 13 double-doubles on the season, including a current streak of four straight. The total ranks second in the Nation.
