SOU Men Make It Two Straight

ASHLAND, ORE. - After dropping four straight games, the Southern Oregon men's basketball team made it two in a row with a 75-73 victory over Corban tonight at McNeal Pavilion.

The Raiders are now 5-9 overall and 3-2 in Cascade Conference play. Corban fell to 4-10 overall and 0-5 in conference action.

Junior Jarrad Childs led the Raiders in scoring for the second straight night with 23 points. He also added five assists and three steals. Scott Tiefenthaler finished with 14 points and Eli Thornton had 12 points and seven assists.

Clay Martin led Corban with 18 points.

Corban came out hot and shot 48 percent en route to a 36-31 halftime lead.

But the Raiders chipped away in the second half.

After trimming the lead to one four times in the second half, the Raiders tied the game at 69-69 on a Thornton 3-pointer.

After Corban took the lead back, Thornton scored on a layup to give SOU a 72-71 lead and a layup by Josh McDermott had the Raiders up 74-71 with 49 seconds to play. Jackson added a free throw with 31 seconds left to ice the game.

SOU travels to Oregon Tech Tuesday night.
