Geoducks Win 3rd Straight, Defeating Corban 91-83 at Home
OLYMPIA, Wash. - Evergreen improves to 10-4 in the Cascade Conference after tonight's 91-83 win over Corban College in the Evergreen State College Greenhouse. Corban held strong through halfway in the first period before the #25 NAIA Div II Geoducks pulled away, forcing the Warriors to play catch-up the remainder of the night.
Michael Ward (Sr. Kansas City, MO) and Nathan Menefee (Jr. Tacoma, WA) combined for 48 points in the win, with Menefee leading all game scorers with 25.
The Warriors had a couple of higher scorers themselves, with Clay Martin's 22 points and Ian Logan adding 21.
Evergreen led by as much as 25 points in the second half, with Corban unable to pull ahead on any run they attempted. The Geoducks answered any Warrior rally and turnovers and missed shots for Corban kept them on the chase.
The Geoducks shot 64% in field goal attempts to Corban's 42%.
Corban (5-9 CCC, 9-14) forced Evergreen to keep starters in the game in the final minutes, closing the point spread to 10 with less than two minutes to go.
Evergreen is now in a four-way tie in the Cascade Conference with Oregon Tech, Eastern Oregon and Warner Pacific.
Up next on ESC's schedule is a Tuesday game in Kirkland, WA with Northwest University (5-9 CCC, 11-12) at 7:30.
