No. 5 OIT Survives C of I, 83-77
CALDWELL, Idaho - Miles Daley scored all nine of his points in the final four minutes, with his three-point play with 3:57 remaining providing the big boost, as No. 5 ranked Oregon Tech withstood a College of Idaho upset bid, topping the Coyotes, 83-77, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
A 15-4 run midway through the second half, capped by a Nate Lewis four-point play, gave OIT (20-4, 10-4 CCC) a 61-51 lead. However, the hosts would not go away, as a Steffen Spinks jumper capped a 7-0 run to pull the Yotes within 65-63. Daley would take over, grabbing a key offensive rebound off his own miss, with his subsequent three-point play pushing the lead to five, then following a C of I turnover, hit a baseline jumper to help the Owls to the key league win.
Tech used a 12-0 first half run to build their biggest lead of the night a 22-11, but Bryan Champ would spark the Coyotes (13-11, 9-5), hitting five first half three-pointers, the final one with two minutes left in the period tied the game at 36-36.
Justin Parnell led OIT with 22 points, with Jguwon Hogges adding 19 points, including 5-of-6 shooting from the line in the final two minutes.
