Eastern Men Win 9th Straight Game

LA GRANDE, Ore. - No. 18th ranked Eastern Oregon (17-5, 10-4 CCC) got off to a hot start from the field and cruised pasted the Southern Oregon University Raiders (7-16, 5-9 CCC) 84-49.

Eastern nailed 10 three-pointers in the first half to take a 35-23 lead over the Raiders. SOU struggled on the back end of their double header, shooting only 28 percent from the field in the first half.

The Mountie extended their lead in the second half and got a huge lift from the bench as the Mountaineer reserves outscored Southern's 30-14. The Mountaineers had four players in double figures. Leading EOU was Neil Fryer with 14 points, Josh Landsverk and Kris Groce with 12 points apiece, and Dan Stafford added 11 points.

Jeremy Templeton dished out six assists on the night. Templeton now holds the all-time assists record for the Eastern Oregon University men's team, reaching 422 assists for his career.

Senior Josh McDermott had a team-high 15 points and Eli Thornton had 10 points and they were the only two Raiders to score in double figures. Next up, the Mountaineers travel to Portland, Ore. to face Concordia University (7-16, 2-12 CCC) and Corban College (9-13, 5-8 CCC) at 7:30p.m. PST.
