BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Cascade men's basketball team lost to Northwest University, 94-92 Saturday night in conference play.

The Thunderbirds like to play their games at a fast pace, but on Saturday night the game slowed down just enough for Northwest University to steal it late. Greg Peters had just enough time (.9 seconds) to score off an out-of-bounds play under Northwest's basket to propel the Eagles to their fourth CCC win of the season.

Northwest built a 51 to 47 halftime lead behind the play of Blake Solomon (who led all scorers with 22 points) and Greg George. "We knew that Blake and Greg were excellent players, but tonight they seem to hit shots at crucial times," Head Coach Anthony Baugher stated. "Coach Van Dyke had his guys prepared, they did exactly what was needed to win on the road. They hit their free throws and played together. They are a very disciplined and well-coached team."

"It's disappointing to lose a conference game at home," Assistant Coach Adam Decker stated. "We certainly had some chances to win, but give them credit. We had chances to put the game away, but we just didn't do it. Our guys will bounce back, they really believe in each other."

Ben Pawlak was 4-for-5 from behind the 3-pt line and paced Cascade with 18 points. Erving Adams had 17 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists. Josh Brown added 14 points and Elliot Barker had 10 points for the T-Birds.

"We have no turnaround," Baugher said. "We host Warner Pacific on Tuesday. You can't dwell on this game too long. We're a very good team, but we just had a very difficult stretch from that 2-minute mark where they did a good job of executing and we didn't. This loss is on our coaching staff, the players did everything in their power to win this game; I take full responsibility for the outcome."

The Thunderbirds will return to the hardwood and CCC play on Tuesday night, January 6th against Warner Pacific College. Game time is 7:30pm.
