Hustlin Owls Roll Raiders
Klamath Falls, Ore. – The No. 1 ranked Oregon Tech men’s basketball team improved their win streak to 23 straight over rival Southern Oregon with a 93-50 win tonight at Danny Miles Court.
The Owls improve to 16-1 on the season and 6-1 in the Cascade Conference standings. Southern drops to 5-10 overall and even in conference play at 3-3.
The Owls used a 26-9 run to start the game and a 15-3 run to close out the first half to head into the locker room with a commanding 55-28 lead.
It did not take long for the Owls to take a 27 point half time lead and eventually double their opponents score at 60-30 with 18:36 left to play. A 17-2 run would bury the Raiders, as the Owls took a 47 point lead, 89-42, and cruise to an easy 93-50 win.
Jguwon Hogges led the Owl attack with 23 points and handed out a game-high eight assists. Ryan Beesely followed with a career-high 21 points, four rebounds and two assists. Justin Parnell netted 14 points, while Josh Wetzler finished with a double-double 13 point and 12 rebound effort. Wetzler took his career rebounding total to 853, moving him in to second place on the all-time rebounding list.
Eli Thornton was the only Raider to reach double-figures with 12 points and grabbed four rebounds. Dustin Vaughn finished with eight points and a team-high seven rebounds for SOU in the loss.
The Owls next play at Northwest Christian University on Friday, January 9, in Eugene. The tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. and can be hear live in the Klamath Basin on KLAD FM 92.5.
