Knights end Yotes CCC unbeaten streak at 18

CALDWELL, Idaho - Alija Sacirovic hit a 20-yard drive off the hands of College of Idaho keeper Aaron Reynolds for the game-winning goal with less than six minutes left, lifting Warner Pacific to a 1-0 road victory at Simplot Stadium.

The win for the Knights (8-3, 7-1 CCC) ended an 18-match unbeaten streak for the Coyotes in Cascade Conference play and avenged a pair of losses to The C of I from 2008.

Battling a 30 mile-per-hour wind blowing from endline to endline, the Yotes (5-3-1, 5-1-1) had a pair of great opportunities in the first half - having a Cesar Aguirre goal off a header disallowed by an offsides call in the 21st mi, with a Kazuki Murata shot clanging off the crossbar in the 26th minute.

WP would pepper the goal in the second half, breaking through on a great through-ball by Julian Esquivel, with Sacirovic lacing the left-footed shot from just outside the box at Reynolds - who slowed the ball down with a dive, but it found the twine for the winner.

The Yotes were playing without a pair of All-CCC starters in sweeper Spencer Ward and forward Jesus Lopez - with the Knights holding a 13-11 edge in shots and 7-6 edge in corners.

The C of I returns to action on Sunday afternoon, hosting Concordia at 1 p.m.
