KIRKLAND, Wash. – Southern Oregon defeated Northwest University, 1-0, in a closely contested Cascade Conference game this afternoon.

The only score of the game came with just 2 minutes and 27 seconds remaining in the game as NU knocked a SOU shot into their own goal to give the Raiders the 1-0 win. Southern Oregon’s Maddi Sprott took a shot from the right side of the goal and as it headed for the left corner of the goal, NU’s Chelsea Miller tried to kick the ball free from the goal mouth but inadvertently knocked it into goal net.
 
Northwest (1-9-2, 0-5-1 CCC) and Southern Oregon (5-7-1, 4-3 CCC) battled to a scoreless tie in the first half as NU out shot SOU, 6-4. Northwest U. goalie, Jordan Holmes had all of her 3 saves in the first half. SOU goalkeeper Jessica Kuehlwein earned the shut out and had one save for the Raiders. Northwest U. out shot Southern Oregon, 12-6 for the game.
 
Northwest will now travel to Salem, Oregon on October 16 to take on Corban College at 4 p.m.
