CU's Kelton McFadden notched her second career multi-goal game against the Knights on Saturday.
McFadden Moves Cavaliers to Win over Warner Pacific
PORTLAND, Ore.—Scoring three goals in the first 13 minutes, Concordia rolled to a 5-0 win at home against Warner Pacific in a Cascade Collegiate Conference women’s soccer match played at Delta Park on Saturday night.
With the win, Concordia improved to 13-1-0 on the season and 5-0-0 in CCC Play. Warner Pacific dropped to 1-8-3 overall and 1-3-1 in league action.
In a two-minute span, Concordia junior Kelton McFadden (Boise, Idaho) scored the first two goals of the game. McFadden’s first score came at the 9:02 mark after a pass to teammate Kaitlyn Tebbs in which Tebbs returned the pass to allow McFadden a 15-yard strike into the upper-right hand corner of the net.
At the 10:54 mark, McFadden returned with an unassisted score after taking a low-driving shot from inside the box which WPC keeper Lacey Golden (West Richland, Wash.) initially handled but let the ball slip through her hands and into the back of the net.
Jessica Ramback (Mill Creek, Wash.) completed the CU scoring spree with a 16-yard dart after a steal from inside the Warner Pacific box, giving the Cavs three goals in three minute and 52 seconds.
The Cavaliers outshot the Knights 14-to-3 in the first half, with WPC’s shots coming in a seven-minute span late in the half by three different players. Danielle Rodriguez (Hamilton, Mont.) gave the Knights its best scoring chance with a shot on goal that was scooped up by CU keeper George Christensen (Hillsboro, Ore.).
Ramback would add her second goal of the game with a McFadden assist on a CU score in the 67th minute, while Angie Turner (Salem, Ore.) scored with the help of a Lauryn Helmers (Puyallup, Wash.) pass in the 82nd minute to complete the game’s scoring.
Concordia outshot the Knights 25-to-3 in the game and generated six corner kicks. Tori Talbutt (Boise, Idaho) relieved Christensen in the second half to help complete the shutout, the team’s eighth of the year and fifth in its last six games.
Concordia returns to action on Oct. 16 when it travels to Oregon Tech. That same Friday, Warner Pacific travels to Southern Oregon for its next CCC contest.
