BLUE RIVER, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women’s golf team led by 19 strokes, winning the NCU-Pacific Dual meet, taking place on Sunday and Monday at Tokatee Golf Course. Ashley King won medalist honors at the event with a ten-stroke victory.
King shot a solid 80-82=162, the third-best two-round tournament in school history, claiming a ten shot win over individual golfer Hailey Thomas of Corban College (82-90=172). Emma Mitchem had the best round in school history for someone not named Ashley King, scoring an 87 on Sunday before closing out the tournament with a 100, scoring a 187, good for 5th place.
Jordie Holland took 7th (92-100=192) and was followed in eighth by Nicole Klingerman (99-95=194). Shelby Gabrielson shot a 104-104=208 and took tenth while Katie Du Pont shot a 240 overall and finished 12th.
The Beacons had two of the best rounds in school history, shooting a 358 in the opening round followed by a 377 on Monday. NCU finished with a 735, topping Pacific (372-382=754) by 19 strokes. Jasmine Ching was the top finisher for the Boxers, shooting an 84-94=178 to take third place. She was followed in fourth by Jayme Hall (186).
This event closes out the fall season for Northwest Christian. The Beacons will not be back in action again until the Simpson University Invitational, beginning on March 14th, 2010.
