Seniors Lead Owls Over Knights 1-0
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- On a night when Oregon Tech honored its seniors, it was only fitting for those seniors to lead The Hustlin’ Owls to a 1-0 win over Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) foe Warner Pacific. With the win Oregon Tech moves to 11-5 on the season and 4-3 in conference play. The Knights drop to 1-10-3, and 1-5-1 in the CCC.
After being recognized before the game, Oregon Tech senior Dacarie Robertson (Medford, Ore.) wasted no time in pleasing the large home crowd as she took a ball about 45 yards out, dribbled her way through three defenders, then buried her shot in the lower right hand side of the goal past Warner Pacific goalie Lacey Golden (West Richland, Wash.) in the ninth minute of play.
The Oregon Tech defense took care of things from that point. Led by its seniors, Defender, Janie Bennett (Grants Pass, Ore.), Midfielder, Sarah Ziegler (Ruch, Ore.) and Goalie, Megan Ross (Medford, Ore.) Oregon Tech registered its record setting seventh shut-out of the season.
Not to be left out of the fun, Senior Forward, Katie O’Brien (Jacksonville, Ore.) led the Tech offense with six shots in the game, two on frame.
Oregon Tech dominated possession with an 18-1 advantage in shots and 6 -0 advantage in shots on goal. Warner Pacific goalie Lacey Golden was credited with 5 saves for the game.
Oregon Tech will wrap up CCC play at Northwest Christian next Friday and at Corban College next Saturday.
