Kristin Henning had nine kills and nine blocks in Yotes win
CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho held Northwest University to just eight points in each of the first two sets, as the No. 7 ranked Lady Yotes rolled to a 25-8, 25-8, 25-20 Cascade Conference victory tonight in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Coyotes (12-1, 8-0 CCC) extended their conference home court win streak to 38 games, extended their CCC win streak to 26, while winning their 12th overall match in a row.
Set 1 was tight early, as the Eagles (5-12, 4-4) pulled even with the Yotes at 8-8, before Ciciley Fox ran off 17-consecutive points on her serve. Kristin Henning had six kills and four blocks and Kathryn Ely had four kills and three blocks during the run.
Set 2 was much of the same, as the Yotes used a 14-1 run midway through the period to take command. Marcella Hernandez and Jessie Link had big frames, each recording four kills, with Link adding three blocks.
The finale was much tighter, as NU held a 20-19 lead on an Ashley Peavey kills, but the Yotes scored the final six points of the match - including three spikes from Link and a Hernandez ace to notch the win.
Henning had nine kills and nine blocks, Link nine kills and four blocks - as eight different Coyotes had at least one kill. Madie Machurek had 25 assists and 14 digs in the victory.
Peavey led the Eagles with five kills, Lauryn Ernster had 17 assists, with Lauren Holtz recording four kills and a team-high nine digs.
The Lady Yotes return to action tomorrow night, hosting Evergreen State at 7 p.m.
