Eagles and Knights Battle to 1-1 Tie
KIRKLAND, Wash. - The NU Eagles and Warner Pacific Knights battled to a 1-1 tie in double overtime today in CCC play.
After a scoreless first half, Kiley Murray gave Warner Pacific (1-7-3, 1-2-1 CCC) the 1-0 lead as she knocked one in from 20 yards out and an assist from teammate Katie Miller at the 67:41 mark. The lead would be short lived as less than two minutes later, NU would tie the game on Melissa Newhouse's unassisted goal 5 yards out from the left side of the goal. The teams would battle the remainder of regulation without a score.
NU 1-7-2, 0-3-1 CCC) seemed to dominate every category but the scoring as they out shot the Knights 29-4 and 11 to 1 in corner kicks. WPC's goalkeeper, Lacey Golden kept the Eagles from the winning goal with 11 saves on the day in 110 minutes of play. NU's Jessica Kane made two saves and played the entire game.
Rachael Harris and Yanet Candido each had 7 shots for the Eagles but neither could get one past Golden and into the goal net. Jordyn Wilson had 4 shots for NU which could not find their mark.
The Eagles will remain home and will host Oregon Tech Friday at 1:00 p.m. on the NU Athletic Field.
