Concordia Picks up Fourth Straight with Win over Evergreen State
PORTLAND, Ore. – Concordia defeated Evergreen State 3-0 (25-7, 25-17, 25-16) in Cascade Collegiate Conference volleyball action on Friday night to garner its fourth straight win and ninth win in its last 10 matches.
With the victory, CU improved to 15-7 overall and 12-3 in CCC action while Evergreen State fell to 1-23 and 1-14 in league action.
Concordia registered a .280 hitting percentage while holding the Geoducks to -.025, the second time this season the Cavalier defense held its opponent to a negative attack rate.
Raluca Dinca (Portland, Ore.) led the court with nine kills while teammate McKenzie Rath added seven (Selah, Wash.). Meghan De La Rosa (Kennewick, Wash.) paced Evergreen with seven kills on just nine attacks for a stellar .778 hitting percentage.
The Geoducks held firm on the defensive end after collecting 34 digs in the match, just one fewer than the Cavaliers. De La Rosa recorded the highest total of the night with nine digs while CU’s Kim Lindow (Gresham, Ore.) landed one behind with eight digs.
The Cavalier tandem of Dinca and Mariana Toscano (Portland, Ore.) each had seven digs while setter Skyler Kamaka tallied 29 assists out of the team’s 30 kills. Clair Thiel (Oak Harbor, Wash.) tied a career best with seven block assists.
Concordia returns to action on Saturday by hosting senior night against Northwest University while Evergreen State will stay in town to visit Warner Pacific. Both matches are set to begin at 7 p.m.
