PORTLAND, Ore. – Avenging a loss to the Eagles earlier in the season, Warner Pacific swept Northwest University 25-17, 25-13, 25-17 tonight at CC Perry Gym.

The host Knights (9-11, 6-9 CCC) hit for a .304 percentage, a season best for the team in conference play. Megan Marineau led the way with a match high14 kills versus just 1 error, a sparkling .591 percentage.

Set one was close early, until the Knights broke a 8-8 tie with a 7-1 run. The visiting Eagles never drew closer than five points the rest of the way as WP hit .444 in the frame.

The Knights led from the start in set 2, forging a 19-9 lead that they did not relinquish. Melita Elliot fired in two service aces to key the 25-13 win.

The Eagles (7-17, 6-9 CCC) battled in set three to prolong the match. After falling behind early 7-1, they fought to within 18-15. Later in the frame, an Anu Akamine kill fended off match point for NU, but Sam Kolakowski spiked home a kill to give WP the 25-17 win and three set sweep.

In addition to Marineau, Leah Gradwohl swung for 11 kills and had 10 digs. Caitlyn McCall led the defense with 17 digs, and Whitney Valenta directed the Knight attack with 19 assists.

NU was led by Lauren Holtz with 7 kills. Anu Akamine contributed 6 kills and a team high 16 digs.

The Knights host Evergreen State tomorrow night in their last home match of the season. NU heads to Concordia. Both games are at 7:00.
