PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific defeated Evergreen State in four sets tonight at C.C. Perry Gym in front of many costume wearing fans. Halloween added to the senior night festivities as Claire Van Meer, Megan Marineau, Molly Webb, and Leah Gradwohl all played their last home matches for the Knights.

After the seniors were honored in the pre-game ceremony, the host Knights (10-11, 7-9 CCC) were a little out of synch. Evergeen State (1-24, 1-14 CCC) capitalized in the first set and forged a 15-9 lead. Meghan De La Rosa tallied 3 kills, 7 assists, and a service ace in the frame to lead the Greeners to a 25-22 win.

The Knights turned things around in set 2, attacking at a .524 clip and holding Evergreen to 2 kills for the set. WPC built a 20-9 lead, then won 5 of the next 6 points to win 25-10.

WP started set 3 by building a 6-1 lead behind service aces from Sam Kolakowski and Melita Elliot. The Geoducks kept fighting and were within four points at 19-15, but the only points the Knights gave up from there were three service errors, and WP prevailed 25-18.

The deciding set was close early as the teams battled to a 9-9 tie. WP slowly pulled away behind four kills from Megan Marineau and won going away, 25-17.

Marineau was the top hitter for the second match in a row, spiking home 13 kills versus just 3 errors. Kolakowski added 11 kills and Molly Webb was solid in the back with 16 digs.

ESC was led by De La Rosa with 6 kills and 16 assists. Chantal Petkus had a match high 18 digs.

The Knights wrap up the season with a trip to Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho next weekend. Evergreen State will host Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon.
