SOU Men (No. 2) Lead Way in NAIA XC Polls
PORTLAND, Ore. – Southern Oregon University’s men’s cross country team jumped four spots to the No. 2 position in the NAIA Top 25 poll this week to lead a group of five Cascade Collegiate Conference teams in this week’s men’s and women’s national rankings.
The Raiders, who are coming off a victory in the Charles Bowles Invitational at Willamette University this past weekend, received three first-place votes and 687 points overall. Malone (Ohio) accounted for 20 first-place votes and 715 points to maintain a stronghold on the No. 1 slot.
Other CCC teams in the men’s Top 25 include 15th-ranked College of Idaho, which moved up five positions, and 21st-ranked Eastern Oregon, which moved into the poll for the first time this season.
In the women’s poll, College of Idaho leads a group of five CCC programs in the poll. The Yotes moved up from sixth to fifth, which marks the second-highest ranking by an C of I women's team ever (the 2000-01 women's basketball team was ranked as high as No. 4).
Meanwhile Eastern Oregon climbed from the No. 23 spot to the No. 17 position, matching Embry-Riddle for the biggest jump of any ranked team in this week's listing.
Concordia, Northwest Christian and Southern Oregon were included in the “others receiving votes” category.
