OIT Fights Way to 82-78 Victory Over Indiana-East

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The No. 11 ranked Oregon Tech men’s basketball team opened the 2009-10 campaign with an 82-78 win over Indiana University-East tonight at Danny Miles Court. The Owls (1-0) have now extended their home winning streak to 19 straight. With the loss, No. 26 Indiana University-East drops to 0-2 on the season.

Playing in his first game in an Owl uniform, Joseph Foster (Jr. Las Vegas, Nev.) netted 26 points, including 4-for-7 from the three point line. Justin Parnell (Sr. Sutherlin, Ore.) started the season with a double-double 23 points and 11 rebounds to go with a team-high four assists. Myles Daley (Sr. Medford, Ore.) finished with 11 points and nine rebounds for Tech in the win.

IU-East had four players in double-figures, led by Noah Douglas and Tyler Rigby with 17 apiece. Justin Hawkins followed with 12 points and Channing Coffey knocked down 10 in the losing cause. Douglas and Coffey both grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Oregon Tech plays Idaho Select in an exhibition game tomorrow at 2 pm, before facing Simpson University of Redding, Calif. at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, November 3rd.
