PORTLAND, Ore. – Eighth-year head coach Justin Sherwood captured career win No. 100 Saturday night, as Corban's men's basketball team extended its season-opening winning streak to three games with a 115-94 victory over Multnomah University inside the Lion's Den.

With tonight's wire-to-wire win, Corban improves to 3-0 to open the 2009-10 season while Multnomah falls to 1-5 overall.

Senior Ben Potloff (Keizer, Ore.) and junior Ian Logan (Aloha, Ore.) scored a game-high 22 points each, while sophomore Erik Cronrath (Battle Ground, Wash.) added 19 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Junior Nash Keene (Aumsville, Ore.) chipped in with 13 points off the bench, while sophomore Jake Mauermann (Clackamas, Ore.) rounded out the Warriors' double-digit scorers with 10 points.

The visiting Warriors jumped out to a quick 13-0 lead in the opening 3:10 before building a 16-point advantage (33-17) following a free throw by sophomore Brelin Powell (Boise, Idaho) with 9:39 remaining in the first half. Multnomah would climb back to within five points (44-39) via a 22-11 run that was finished off with a three-point bucket by William Yates with 4:21 showing on the clock. Corban would rebuild its lead to double figures (53-41) after a Keene fast break lay-in before the visiting Warriors settled for a 10-point (53-43) lead at intermission.

In the second half, Corban wasted no time in pushing its lead to 17 points (76-59) after back-to-back free throws by Keene with 13:15 remaining in the game. The host Lions would get as close as 12 points (82-70) after a Nicolaas Kamlade lay-in with 9:32 remaining before Corban pushed its lead to a game-high 32 points (106-74) after a pair of free throws by freshman Jacob Kopra (Gresham, Ore.) with exactly four minutes left in the contest. Multnomah could not get any closer than 20 points (113-93) after another Kamlade lay-in with 57 ticks showing on the clock before the visiting Warriors settled for the final margin of 21 points (115-94) following a fast break lay-in by freshman Marcus Butler (Patterson, Calif.) in the final 30 seconds.

Twelve Warriors scored in tonight's victory, as Corban's bench provided 36 points with Corban shooting 39-for-74 (52.7%) from the field and 10-for-26 (38.5%) from beyond the three-point line. At the free throw line, the Warriors were 27-for-35 (77.1%) that included a 16-for-21 (76.2%) clip over the game's final twenty minutes.

Multnomah was led by Tyler Yates and Gian Cook, who scored 14 points each. Kamlade and Payton McCalligan added 11 points each, while William Yates added nine points off the bench. The host Lions shot 31-for-81 (38.3%) from the field and 15-for-48 (31.3%) from beyond the arc. At the free throw line, Multnomah was 17-for-27 (63.0%) that included a 10-for-12 (83.3%) showing in the first half.

The rebounding edge went to Corban, who controlled the glass with a 65-to-28 advantage and a 2-to-1 margin on the offensive boards. The Warriors grabbed 20 offensive and 45 defensive rebounds, while Multnomah pulled down 10 offensive and 18 defensive boards.

The Warriors will return to the hardwood on Friday, November 20th, when they travel north to Forest Grove for a 7:00 p.m. match up with NCAA Division III member Pacific University of Oregon inside the Pacific Athletic Center.
