Second-Half Run Spurs Concordia
PORTLAND, Ore.— Limiting Pacific Lutheran to 25.8 percent shooting in the second half, Concordia defeated the Lutes 77-56 in non-conference men’s basketball action on Saturday night.
With the win, Concordia improved to 4-1 on the season while PLU dropped to 1-1 following a win against Corban College earlier in the week.
With three players in double figures, Megan Padilla led the Cavaliers with 14 points which included 2 of 5 from three-point range and 4 of 5 from the free throw line.
Rachel Scarpelli added 11 and Danielle Clauson an even 10 as the Cavaliers kept posted the wire-to-wire win.
Padilla opened the game’s scoring with a three pointer in the initial minute of play but PLU would counter with a three of their own off the hand of Melissa Pixer. Those initial stages would be the closest that PLU would come as the Cavaliers gathered a double-digit lead in the first half and would finish with a 21-point win over the visiting Lutes.
Pacific Luthern was paced by a game-high 19 points from Shelly Kilcup. Mandy Wall gathered a game-high nine rebounds while sharing the court-high of six assists with CU’s Leilanie Lewis.
The Cavaliers return to action in Nov 24 when it stays in town for a road match at Lewis & Clark College. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m.
