Parnell’s Double-Double Leads Hustlin' Owls Past Bearcats 97-71
ASHLAND Ore. – Playing in the first game of the Flagship Inn Classic on the Southern Oregon University campus, Oregon Tech improved to 8-1 on the season with the 97-71 win over Willamette University. Oregon Tech was led by Justin Parnell (Sutherlin, OR) who tied his career high with 32 points and also grabbed a team high 11 rebounds. Willamette University falls to 1-2 with the loss.
Tech took a 9 point lead to the locker room as Alex Zerbach (Covington, WA) hit a dramatic shot just before the halftime buzzer sounded to put OIT up 45-36.
Oregon Tech made 36 of 73 shots (49.3%) from the floor and held the Bearcats to 28 of 66 shots (42%) and just 3 of 16 (19%) from long range. Oregon Tech also out rebounded Willamette 45-40 for the game.
In addition to Parnell’s 32 points, three other Owls scored in double figures with Joseph Foster (Las Vegas, NV) scoring 15, Myles Daley (Medford, OR) adding 12 points and Scotty Riddle (Madras, OR) chipping in 10 points off the bench.
Oregon Tech will play William Jessup University tomorrow at 5:30pm in Ashland before returning home next Friday and Saturday and hosting Warner Pacific and Concordia University to open up Cascade Collegiate Conference play at Danny Miles Court.
