SEATTLE, Wash. - The NU Eagle women traveled across Lake Washington to take on NCAA Division 1 Seattle University in an exhibition last night and were defeated 75-54 in the Connolly Center.

In the first half, the Redhawks would jump out to a 22-9 lead after 10 minutes, but the Eagles would battle back to pull to within eight points (25-17) with 8 minutes left in the half. Two free throws by SU's Cassidy Murillo would build SU's lead to 29-17 at the 6:55 mark, but NU would answer with two free throws by freshman Emily Drivstuen to make it 29-19. The Redhawks would add to their lead and with 1:49 to go in the half, found themselves up 39-25 and they would take a 40-25 lead over NU into the locker room.
 
Seattle U. would go on a 7-0 run to start the 2nd half to increase their lead to 47-25 and would maintain a lead the remainder of the game. Ebany Heard's (Soph., Steilacoom, Wash.) jumper with 12:22 to go would pull NU to within 16 (55-39) but a 3-pointer by SU's Cassidy Murillo would put the Redhawks up 59-39.
 
NU’s Emily Drivstuen (Monroe, Wash.) led NU with 15 points and senior McKenzie McKean (Moses Lake, Wash.) scored a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Senior Jessica Wilkerson (Issaquah, Wash.) added 10 points and 6 rebounds for the Eagles who shot 34.5% for the game. NU couldn't get treys to drop as they shot 18% from beyond the 3-point arc. The Eagles shot an impressive 85% from the free throw line (11-13).
 
Maggie McCarthy led Seattle U. with 18 points and 9 rebounds and teammate Ashley Brown added 15 points. The Redhawks shot 41% from 2-point range and 31% from the 3-point line. SU held the rebounding edge with a slim, 43-39 margin.
 
The Eagles will next play host the University of Puget Sound on Nov. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
