Morey Hits For 21 In Oregon Tech Win

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech had four players in double figures, including 21 off the bench from senior guard Kellie Morey, as the Lady Owls upended Simpson University in the season opener, 82-59, tonight at Danny Miles Court. 

Morey was 8-for-16 from the floors, including five treys and added four assists and two rebounds to her game-high 21 points. Crystal Idrogo nearly reached a double-double with 15 points and eight rebounds. Aundrea Albright netted 13 points and grabbed six rebounds, followed by Lisa Busch with 10 points and six boards. Kelsey New added a game-high five assists and six rebounds in the win.

Slay Solvanga led the Red Hawks with 17 points, eight of those coming from the charity stripe. Dominique Simmons added 12 points, followed by Paige Barrett with 10. Elizabeth Thomas grabbed a game-high six rebounds to go with seven points in the loss for Simpson.

Oregon Tech shot 49.2% from the floor, while the Tech defense held SU to only 30.4% on the night. Tech was 9-for-19 from long distance and outrebounded their opponent by 30 boards, 54-to-24, 20 of those coming from the offensive end.

Oregon Tech (1-0) will face two NCAA II teams later this week when they travel to Turlock, Calif. on Thursday to face Cal State Stanislaus and on Friday at Dominican University in San Rafael, Calif.
