Lady Yotes wore Pink Uniforms in their 3-0 win over Concordia
CALDWELL, Idaho - Ciciley Fox led all players with 11 kills, as The College of Idaho volleyball team moved one win away from their fourth-straight Cascade Conference championship, rolling past Concordia, 25-18, 25-18, 25-16, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The victory for the No. 8 ranked Lady Yotes (21-2, 16-1 CCC) was their 43rd-straight CCC home win and their sixth-straight win overall. It came on Dig Pink night, as the squad wore pink uniforms for the first time in program history, as the Coyotes raised money for breast cancer research.
Set 1 was a barn-burner, as the two teams combined for eleven ties - the final one coming at 17-17. However, the Yotes got two kills each from Fox and Naomi Reimer as part of a five-point push to claim the win.
The middle set saw The C of I pound out 17 kills to earn the win, while the finale saw the Yotes bust open a 16-13 score with some stellar defense, part of a 9-3 run to close out the match.
Kathryn Ely had nine kills and four blocks, with Reimer adding eight kills, 13 assists, and 12 digs for the Yotes. Marcella Hernandez had seven kills and seven blocks, Madie Machurek added 27 assists, and Whitney Owen recorded 17 digs.
The Cavaliers (16-8, 13-4), who saw their five-game win streak snapped, got eight kills from Raluca Dinca and six kills from Mariana Toscano.
The Coyotes close out the regular-season tomorrow night, hosting Warner Pacific at 7 p.m. A win would secure Caldwell as the host site for the 2009 CCC Tournament, Nov. 13-14.
