5 Athletes Earn CCC Player of the Week Honors

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Five student-athletes -- three in volleyball and two in men's soccer -- have earned Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Week honors for their performances from Nov. 2-8.

Volleyball

Hitter – Eastern Oregon’s Ashleigh Dailey (Nampa, Idaho), a 5-11 senior, averaged 14 kills in a pair of EOU victories last week as the Mountaineers sewed up the No. 3 seed in this week’s CCC Tournament. Dailey had 11 kills in a 3-1 win over Warner Pacific and 17 in a 3-1 win over Concordia. Other nominees: Marcella Hernandez, College of Idaho; Jenny Harman, Corban; Chelsea Hartman, Southern Oregon.

Setter – Eastern Oregon’s Jessica Lea (Prineville, Ore.), a 5-8 sophomore, had a season-high 30 assists in a key victory over Concordia to give the Mountaineers the No. 3 seed in this week’s CCC Tournament. Lea had 46 assists and 19 kills in two matches. Other nominees: Madie Machurek, College of Idaho; Megan Dees, Corban.

Libero – College of Idaho’s Whitney Owen (Caldwell, Idaho), a 5-11 junior, registered 36 digs and a pair of service aces as the Yotes clinched a share of the CCC’s regular season title. Owen had 17 digs in a 3-0 win over Concordia and 19 digs in a 3-0 victory over Warner Pacific. Other nominees: Kaitlyn Duncan, Eastern Oregon; Rebecca Franke, Corban; Becky Johnstone, Southern Oregon.


Men’s Soccer

Offensive – Northwest’s Luke Fischer (Kalispell, Mont.), a 6-0 sophomore, scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over College of Idaho as the Eagles secured the third and final spot in this week’s CCC Tournament. Other nominees: Kaleb Herring, Corban; Tyler Camp, Concordia.

Defensive – Northwest’s Brian Swanson (Everett, Wash.), a 6-1 junior goalkeeper, was in on a pair of shutouts. He played 107 minutes in a 0-0 tie with Corban and 45 minutes in a 2-0 win over College of Idaho. Other nominees: Aaron Franklin, Corban; Zack Madison, Concordia.
