PORTLAND, Ore. – 9th ranked Warner Pacific held off a strong challenge from Concordia tonight in conference play, pulling away late for a 99-91 win at C.C. Perry Gym.

The game action was played above the rim on many occasions as the fans were treated to several high flying dunks from both teams.

The first half action was close throughout as the game was tied seven times and the largest lead by either team was five points. Reggie Guyton sent WP into the locker room on a positive note, sinking a long three pointer just before the buzzer and giving the hosts a 46-43 lead.

The second period saw Warner Pacific holding a slim advantage for most of the twenty minutes, though CU surged in front twice – the last time at 10:48 to play on a Jeff Sego jump shot (65-64).

From there the Knights slowly pulled away behind the play of Guyton who scored 11 points in the half, and built their largest lead of the game at 95-83 with 1:59 to play.

Guyton finished with 19 points leading all scorers. Marcel Smith contributed 14 points off the bench, and Kaylone Riley added 13 points and 10 rebounds despite missing long stretches of the game with foul trouble.

Jourdan Sweeney led six Cavaliers in double figure scoring with 15 counters.

Warner Pacific improves to 9-3 on the season and 2-1 in CCC play. Concordia falls to 10-2 and 1-2.
