BOX SCORE

SALEM, Ore. – Junior Ian Logan (Aloha, Ore.) posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds to go along with senior Ben Potloff's (Keizer, Ore.) game-high tying 22 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field, but neither performances were enough as Corban's men's basketball team fell to the conference-leading Eagles of Northwest, 76-66, Tuesday night inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

With tonight's result, Corban falls to 5-8 overall and 0-3 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Northwest improves to 8-5 overall and remains unbeaten in conference play at 4-0.

Besides Potloff and Logan's scoring performances, sophomores Erik Cronrath (Battle Ground, Wash.) and Jake Mauermann (Clackamas, Ore.) added six points each to go along with junior Deonte Johnson's eight rebounds. Johnson also added four points, a game-high tying three assists, a game-high three blocks, and a team-leading three steals in 26 minutes of action.

Northwest would open the game on an 18-9 run over the first eight-plus minutes before Corban battled back to tie the game at 20-20 following a Mauermann three-pointer with 8:07 remaining on the clock. Both teams would battle back and forth over the next seven-plus minutes before Corban broke a 34-34 tie thanks to a lay-in by freshman Marcus Butler (Patterson, Calif.) and a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Logan for the five-point lead (39-34) at halftime.

In the second half, Corban would continue to hold the lead and extended it to as much as six points (53-47) after a steal that resulted in a fast break lay-in by Potloff with 11:39 left in the game. Northwest would then use an 11-0 run over a span of 1:58 en route to grabbing a five-point lead (58-53) after a lay-in by Greg George with 8:41 left on the clock. Following a 5-0 run by Corban that knotted things at 58-all, both teams traded buckets until the score was deadlocked at 60-60 after a Potloff jumper with 6:25 showing on the clock. Unfortunately, Northwest's offensive firepower was too much for Corban as the visiting Eagles used an 11-4 run over a span of four-plus minutes en route to grabbing a seven-point advantage (71-64) with just over two minutes remaining. The advantage by Northwest was too much for the Warriors to overcome, as Corban watched as timely three-point and free throw shooting down the stretch ended in a 10-point Northwest victory (76-66).

Northwest was led scoring-wise by George's game-high tying 22 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field to go along with a 6-for-7 showing at the free throw line. George was aided by Blake Solomon's 19-point performance on 5-for-12 shooting from the field, while Greg Peters pulled down a team-leading nine rebounds for the visiting Eagles.

As a team, Corban shot 25-for-57 (43.9%) from the field that included a 6-for-19 (31.6%) showing from behind the three-point line and a 10-for-17 (58.8%) performance at the free throw line. On the other hand, Northwest was 25-for-57 (43.9%) from the field, 5-for-13 (38.5%) from long distance, and 21-for-28 (75.0%) at the charity stripe.

Corban will take a break for the Christmas holiday before returning to the hardwood on Wednesday, December 30th, against the NAIA's No. 5-ranked Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. in Klamath Falls.
